The United States Consulate in Tel Aviv may have been targeted in a purported drone strike early Friday morning, possibly the first incursion against a diplomatic facility in the Jewish state since the start of the war in Gaza.

The munition reportedly detonated 140 meters from the property's central city location.

An IDF spokesperson announced that while an investigation into the incident is ongoing, the matter appeared to be "caused by the falling of an aerial target, and no sirens were activated."

The Tel Aviv District Police confirmed that a large contingent of officers and building engineers were dispatched to the scene, as local media reported that the blast shattered windows throughout the area.

Although officials have not assigned responsibility for the incursion, the Tehran-backed Houthi militia in Yemen announced on X that they will soon reveal details about a military operation in Israel’s largest city.

One individual was reported to have been killed and seven others injured in the explosion.
