During a meeting earlier this month in Manama between the United States, Israel, and regional military leaders, Egypt agreed to participate in a post-war security arrangement in Gaza, according to a report by Al-Araby Al-Jadeed.

An Egyptian source told the Qatar-based news site that Cairo was willing to deploy armed forces to the coastal enclave on the condition that the Israelis withdraw to within the Jewish state at the conflict’s conclusion.

The individual specified that the North African nation was amenable to securing the border region on both sides of the international boundary and being responsible for the operation of the area's crossing points.

The informant clarified that his country would not agree to be deployed in residential areas and intended to be eventually replaced by Palestinian administration.

Interactions between Egypt and Israel have historically been cooperative and stable since they signed a peace treaty in 1979, but the recent war in Gaza has strained these relations to some extent.
