Two sources told Axios on Wednesday that Israel’s top general met with regional military leaders in Manama earlier this week.
The news outlet reported that Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi engaged in non-public discussions with representatives from the armed forces in Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates on Monday. The United States Central Command leader, Gen. Michael Kurilla, was also said to be in attendance.
The discussions were described as a reassurance of cooperation between the Israeli government and its neighbors in light of the public criticism that Jerusalem has received in many Muslim countries because of the war in Gaza.
In April, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE assisted the U.S. and Israel in stopping a massive missile and drone bombardment fired by the regime in Iran towards the Jewish state.
Spokespersons from the attending nations declined requests to comment on the gathering.
