On Thursday, transportation authorities in Lebanon banned pagers and walkie-talkies on all flights from Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport, a day after the country experienced a series of attacks that involved the explosions of compromised personal communication equipment.

Earlier this week, at least 37 people were killed and more than 3,000 injured when thousands of the booby-trapped devices detonated in two separate incidents on Tuesday and Wednesday. Most of the casualties were reported to have been associates of the Hezbollah militia.

The blasts, purportedly arranged by Israel’s intelligence services, came several months after the Tehran-backed proxy group acquired the inventory to increase the security of their intraorganizational messaging.

The restrictions, which include the shipping of the products by air cargo, are expected to remain in place until further notice.
